Black Economic Empowerment
Ardmor is all about people. Relationships. Partnerships.
That’s why we also believe in creating lasting partnerships that drive South Africa forward. Our BEE partners include travel and tourism leaders, Shumi Investments (shareholders in BDC Travel), as well as shareholder in Travel with Flair, Basetsana Kumalo.
These partnerships gave birth to African Sky Hospitality, which currently boasts 51% black empowerment and a Level 1 BEE status.
An astute and influential businesswoman, Basetsana Kumalo is a shareholder in Travel With Flair of which her sister, Johana Mukoki is the CEO.
Kananelo Mktheta sits at the helm of Shumi Investments and has a renowned reputation as a travel and tourism stalwart as former CEO of Connex Travel, before they were bought out by BDC Travel. Shumi Investments are still BDC Travel’s BEE partner.
Alan O’Leary is not only the driving force and Managing Director of Ardmor Hospitality, but a visionary in the South African hospitality industry. Backed by years of development expertise, his reputation precedes him as far as he goes.
He opened the hugely successful Sanctuary House Hotel for the Fullers Group in London, aged only 23, which soon became the fastest growing business for the Group for two consecutive years.
Never one to rest on this laurels, Alan further plied his trade with two additional London properties before finally opening the Chamberlain Hotel in the heart of London’s Financial District in 2001. The hotel opened it’s doors with 64 rooms and sustained an annual occupancy rate of a staggering 83%.
But Alan had his sights set on different horizons.
After falling in love with South Africa, he made the country his home in 2002 and took over the reigns of Kievits Kroon Country Estate that very same year.
Fifteen years and three significant investment projects to the tune of more than R70 million later, Alan has transformed Kievits Kroon into a destination befit for royalty.
As the figurehead of Ardmor, he has brokered the acquisition of a stake in what was formerly known as the Aloe Ridge Hotel in Muldersdrift, which is set to redefine the African bush experience under its new moniker - 26 Degrees South, as the premier 3-Star Plus venue and only Afro boho-chic leisure, wedding and conference place to be.
